John Nieporte
The son of Tom Nieporte, who played in 12 U.S. Opens and tied for 17th at the 1958 U.S. Open at Southern Hills C.C., made a hole-in-one on his 30th hole to jump into contention at the sectional qualifier in Florida. The head professional at Trump International G.C. then defeated 15-year-old David Snyder in a playoff to qualify for his first U.S. Open.
